The city of Santa Monica is served by the Santa Monica Unified School District. 91% of Santa Monica’s population over the age of 25 has earned at least a high school degree with 54.8% having received a Bachelors degree or higher. Based on that statistic, it is clear that the residents of Santa Monica believe education is very important. The city offers approximately 30 schools, 14 of which are public. The average public school has a student to teacher ratio of 20.3 to 1. The private schools in Santa Monica have a better student to teacher ratio equal to 11 to 1. With about 30 schools to choose from, Santa Monica residence have many choices when trying to find a school that not only is convenient to get to, but also offers a curriculum that compliments a students educational goals.
